Description
The Pearl Lustre series is a beautiful range of pearlescent mica powders that can be used to colour a variety of products from soaps to shampoos, lotions, makeup, bath bombs, etc.
Synthetic micas are made from heavy-metal free mica and coloured with oxide pigments. Synthetic micas are nature identical to the mica found in the ground, except that by being produced in a lab they are actually far more eco friendly, safer, and of course not mined at all - so child labour practices are not a concern.

INGREDIENTS
Mica and titanium dioxide. Appears as a pearlescent powder.
How coloured mica powders are made:
Mica is coated with titanium dioxide to create a shimmer effect. Different colours are achieved by applying more coats of the titanium dioxide. When light hits titanium dioxide it bounces off and gives a rainbow effect, in the same way light hitting a prism creates a rainbow. Depending on how many times the mica is coated, different shades can be achieved. You can create a total of seven different colours (the seven colours of the rainbow) and then after that the coating layers create deeper shades each time. Depending how coarse or fine the mineral is it will produce different effects, levels of shimmer, and colours.
USAGE TIPS
If using in bath bombs, use a little sodium lauroyl sarcosinate as a solubiliser so the colour wont stain the bath. If adding to other personal care products, the mica colour is best blended with a little oil first to aid in dispersion. In soap: disperse in a little oil at a ratio of 1:3 (mica to oil). Suitable for cold process, hot process and melt & pour soap.
